Mark Porter had a HUGE accident on the Friday of Bathurst in a support race for the main event. Apparently he spun on his own Diff oil when it failed, and he was hit in the driver's door by another competitor who was also flown to intensive care. Sadly Mark Passed away on Sunday evening due to his injuries.
I saw Mark Porter race a few times at our local track, Pukekohe. He was such a nice guy, and a great competitor. He drove purely for the love of racing and I respect that. He was a good man with a young family. He will be sadly missed.
