You know, I could have put money on you being the first in here wink.gif

The Reliant Scimitar Coupe was introduced at the 1964 Earls Court Motorshow. The car featured an OGLE designed glassfibre body, mounted on a sturdy chassis. Early models used a straight Six Ford engine as used in the Zodiac, although this unit was tuned by Reliant to produce over 120BHP as opposed to the standard Ford engine which produced around 88BHP. These cars featured triple SU carburettors and wire wheels. 297 were produced before the car was slightly changed in 1966. It is estimated that less than 50 of these cars survive today.

laugh.gif that's cos there isn't too many folk about, I mean it is 7 hours after you posted it.

I had a teacher who used to have one of these, it was worse than a TVR for reliability laugh.gif

I believe it!! This particular beauty had foreign plates and I've never seen it around here before so I have to assume its a visitor.

My mother's cousin owned one many moons ago, until a woman lost control of her car and crashed into him. To say the bones in his leg ended up in lots of little pieces is probably putting it mildly, since the damn thing was made of fibreglass there was nothing to take the brunt of the collision......

Talking of TVR, I saw one a few weeks ago when I was on a training course and I really wish now that I'd had my camera, it was gorgeous (well yes, forget the unreliable bit!!) laugh.gif

I've just been looking at that picture again and it's not a GTC, it's a coupe (as you said / quoted in your info bit).

GTC

Coupe

A minor point I know however I'd rather correct myself than have someone else do it blush.gif

A guy down the road from me has a couple in his driveway but they never seem to go anywhere. He probably bought one as spares for the other.....

As an aside I liked the X19 in the contemporary Classics thread....they used to be all over the place but I haven't seen one for years !!!
