Spy Shot: Peugeot 107 (undisguised)

This Peugeot city car, spotted before its official launch in Geneva next month, is the undisguised 107. The successor to the popular 106 has been brought up to date to meet modern safety criteria (thus the rather bulbous front overhang) and shows the now-familiar feline headlights and large badge, though the 407's striking 'Ferrari' grille gets omitted from the tiddler sadly. The car spied here, with its black plastic bumpers, looks like it could be an entry-level model.

The 107 is to be built alongside the upcoming Citroen C1 and Toyota's tiny Aygo in a joint development at a factory in the Czech Republic; being derived from the current Citroen C2 underpinnings, the 107 should be roomier than the model it replaces. The engine range should comprise the usual PSA-built small-capacity city engines (1.1- and 1.3-litre petrols and a 1.3 diesel), and probably a 1.6-litre GTI version for boy racer types with up to 110bhp but probably no more to keep insurance prices to a minimum.

The 107 will come in three-door hatchback form; those wanting a little more flexibility might opt for the 1007 mini-MPV, which arrives in March. The 107 won't go on sale until summer, however. The good news is that when it does, prices look set to undercut even the cheapest 106, at around £5000..

I don't see how that is a copy of the Ford Ka. And the Ford Ka was very sucessful in the UK - I'm not sure about other countries though.

awwww its sooo cute ... That would make a perfect first car thumbs.gif

not quite with the topic but picking up on the 1.6gti tag.... If I was in charge of this bloody country I'd make it illegal for anyone under 21 to own a car more powerful than a 1.1!! Then you can have up to a 1.6 until you are 25, then once you hit 25 you can have anything provided you have a clean driving license!! heheheh oh why didnt I ever consider politics wink.gif laugh.gif

ps it looks nothing like a KA headscratch.gif

Nope laugh.gif laugh.gif
I know there are some sensible young drivers out there and yes we all learned to drive once.... Putting limits on the engine size allowed for new drivers not only makes insurance more reasonable so new drivers dont need to clog up their parents policies it also would in turn cut down on the amount of boy racers there are out there at the moment, there are loads of them with no insurance at all because companies wont insure new drivers for high power vehicles ( * note also if you 'tinker' with your car and not inform your insurance.. the policy can become void) .... the max power generation has a lot to answer for hun.
Don't take it personally babe... when you get to my age and your kids are at risk playing in the street from young drivers in their 'more exhaust than mot' vehicles then you'll probably agree with me thumbs.gif

If your idea became the law, I'd buy an old 5.8L V8 Falcon or Commodore, and drive it around with no muffler just to stick it up the establishment.

Why should the majority be punished for the few??

I though it was illegal to drive in the UK without insurance?
Miowmix
yeah it is illegal but there are plenty of people out there who still drive without it.... its this minority that push up the premiums for the rest of us

BTW .. there was a bit of tongue in cheek about me posting about limiting engine sizes... hence the winkie smiley and the laughing.....hehehe my 3rd car at the tender age of 20 was an XRi4x4 sierra ... dya honestly think i'd put meself out of the running of a beast of its day wink.gif laugh.gif

I'm just older now .. I can be cynical and preach 'do as I say not as I do' thumbs.gif roflmao
