How many of you are/were karters? I know there is at least a couple. If so how did you get into it, whats it like?

What can I say?

There is NOTHING like the feeling of being right on the limit of how fast you can go while sitting one inch behind the kart in front, while he/she in one inch from the kart in front of them, while sitting one inch off the ground, while going in excess of 100kmh. Almost all F1 drivers start here, It's actually a bit like F1 really, because you need to learn how to make the thing go fast via setup, as well as making it go fast through skill.

If you want to get into it, visit your local kart track (I know they have one in Nelson) on a club day. You'd be quite suprised at how skiolled some people are.

I used to race - karts can reach fantastic speeds, but it's not so much the speed but the way in which you can corner at high speeds.

Like SD says it's all about the set up so I believe it is the best way to understand cars.

I got in to it with a good friend who's parents were friends of my parents blahblah1.gif and we both ended up racing in amateur leagues, but then I gave it up to pursue moto-x and then road racing on bikes.
